Organisers of the 2017 International Toy Fair, Spielwarenmesse, have reported 73,000 visitors attended the annual trade fair held in Nuremberg from 1-6 February.

Attendance figures grew 3.2 per cent over 2016, which registered 70,714 members of the global toy trade on site ready to initiate trade with 2871 exhibitors from 63 countries, 17 of which hailed from Australia.

According to organisers, the proportion of international retailers and buyers climbed from 58 per cent to 60 per cent. The majority of which came from Europe (in particular, Italy, Russia and China), Asia and America.

“Our exhibition stand was even busier than last year; the response to our new products was really positive – overall there was a sense of new beginning”, Dirk Engehausen, Schleich CEO said.

According to figures quoted by the organisers, more than 85 per cent of companies have stated they were “extremely pleased” with their presence at Spielwarenmesse, a new all-time high.

“The overall outcome of the 68th event confirms that the Spielwarenmesse is in a unique position, ranking as the most important platform in the industry”, Ernst Kick, Spielwarenmesse CEO, said.

Spielwarenmesse 2018 will be held over five days from 31 January to 4 February.
