The organisers of Spielwarenmesse are preparing to begin the process of finding winners for its acclaimed ToyAwards.
The awards, which are presented at the opening ceremony of the fair and are judged within five categories – Baby and Infant, Preschool, School Kids, Teenagers and Adults and Start-up – saw 433 exhibitors enter 838 products in 2019.
The products will be judged by a panel consisting of market researchers, international sales representatives, scientists and a blogger and are judged on an array of criteria including potential success at retail, fun factor, accessibility of the product concept, originality, workmanship and quality and safety.
The entered products will go through a two-step judging process, helping to narrow the selection pool down to five winners.
In a statement, Spielwarenmesse eG said that winning an award benefits both retailers and buyers.
"Every year, the Spielwarenmesse presents the ToyAwards to particularly outstanding innovations.
"Considered an important quality mark for both buyers and retailers, the accolade enjoys high levels of prestige across the industry.
"Exhibitors can submit up to three product descriptions in English together with photos and also videos."
Entries open on 14 Septmeber and close on 11 December.
