Toy retailer Toymate is set to open its second Queensland store in Toowoomba's Grand Central Shopping Centre.
The new store will occupy 1200sqm and joins other toy retailers such as Kidstuff, Australian Geographic and Zing Pop Culture as well as department stores Myer, Big W, Kmart and Target in the centre.
As per previous store openings, Toymate will re-hire former Toys R Us employees including a store and area manager.
In celebration of the opening, the retailer will be holding a two-day opening party featuring free activities, a giveaway every hour from 10am-1pm, fairy-floss, face painting and a DJ. Elsa and Spiderman will also be meeting and greeting families at the store.
Toymate founder and CEO Danny Bloom said that the store has opened in perfect timing ahead of Christmas.
"I started Toymate because I was very passionate about providing Australian families the best range of toys at the lowest prices with an amazing customer journey along the way.
"We take pride in offering our customers a price match guarantee, we will be your one-stop shop just in time for Christmas," he said.
Toymate plans to continue opening new stores throughout 2019, with Melbourne and Tasmania highlighted as potential growth sites.
The Toowoomba store will open on 10 August and adds to the retailer's store footprint of 20 stores across Australia.
