Australian toy business, Modern Brands, and New Zealand toy business, Planet Fun have been appointed by ITV Studios as exclusive distribution partners for the studio's Thunderbirds Are Go toy range in Australia and New Zealand.
Both businesses will begin to distribute the autumn/winter 19 toy line – which includes collectibles, action figures and vehicles – immediately within their designated regions.
Thunderbirds Are Go screens on ABC Me and Channel Nine in Australia and new episodes from season three are set to air to support the toy line.
Modern Brands' general manager, Tim Clarke, said that the Australian market is a key region for the Thunderbirds Are Go brand.
“Australia is a very relevant and important market for Thunderbirds Are Go. We are very excited to be working with ITV to bring the Thunderbirds Are Go toy line to the Australian retailers and consumers from 2019.
“Thunderbirds has a strong following in Australia and as a long term property has a great fit within the Modern Brands brand portfolio,” he said.
Stemming from the 50-year-old original Thunderbirds television show, Thunderbirds Are Go is a co-production between ITV Studios and New Zealand studio Pukeko Pictures, in collaboration with Weta Workshop, the studio which developed Avatar, King Kong and Lord of the Rings.
Planet Fun CEO, Jeremy Kirk-Smith, said that the business is proud to not only distribute the line, but is proud that the show is produced in New Zealand.
“Planet Fun has long been passionate Thunderbirds Are Go fans, and is proud that the show is produced in New Zealand (in Wellywood!).
“We are thrilled to announce that The Warehouse will be exclusive retail partners with stock hitting the shelves in August this year,” he said.
