Australian retail investor business, the Alceon Group, has announced a new partnership with The Lego Group, to open Lego certified stores across Australia and New Zealand.
The agreement will see a major flagship store open in Sydney's Westfield Bondi Junction shopping centre in late March.
Executive director and head of private equity at Alceon Group, Richard Facioni, said that the partnership will broaden Alceon's retail portfolio, which currently includes brands such as Noni B, Pumpkin Patch and online retailer SurfStitch.
"As one of the world’s most powerful and most recognised brands, we are proud to partner with The Lego Group to bring this leading retail concept to Australia.
"More broadly, this deal signifies Alceon’s depth of ambition in the retail space as we continue to seek further acquisitions and to pursue relevant investments that offer future sustainable growth," he said.
The 302sqm, custom-built, flagship store is set to offer consumers interactive brick experiences, Lego brick engraving, large 3D models inspired by Sydney's landmarks as well as a dedicated area for children's parties.
Vice president and general manager of The Lego Group Australia and New Zealand, Claus Kristensen, said that the store will serve as hub for developing the Lego builders of the future.
"2019 is an exciting year for Lego with new offerings for every builder from pre-schoolers with Lego Duplo to our most popular themes such as Lego City and Lego Friends.
"It’s fantastic that we will have a place for Lego fans to come and experience our brand in Sydney as we continue to develop the builders of tomorrow."
The partnership was announced 14 February.
