Toy & Hobby Retailer is proud to support the Australian Toy Association's Rising Star Award in 2020, which recognises outstanding performers in the industry who are under 40. 

This award is open to the industry as a whole and all finalists will be profiled in the bumper Toy Fair Edition of the magazine, with the winner announced at the Gala Dinner.

The finalists for the Rising Star Award will be judged independently on; culture/colleague empathy; teamwork; financial performance; ambition; standing in industry; and, innovation/initiative. 

In 2019, Headstart's Alan Ngov took out the coveted award.

In a statement, the ATA said that Ngov demonstrated enthusiasm for the industry accompanied by a strong work ethic, making him a great candidate to take out the award. 

"Alan receives this award in recognition of his leadership skills and overall passion for the toy industry.

"He has been described as one of the most likeable, intelligent and hardworking people at Headstart with an innate ability to breakdown issues and solve problems collaboratively.

"Responsible for a sales team of seven, Alan has exceeded his targets while also managing stock control.

"Indeed, ATA Hall of Famer Fred Gaffney, describes Alan as a star of the future who is dedicated to learning, listening and travelling. Strong words from a legend of our industry," the statement said. 

The entries for this award are live and are open until 29 November. 

The Rising Star Award will be presented at the ATA Gala Dinner on Sunday 01 March 2020.
