Fans throng to Supanova
The tenth annual Supernova sci-fi, fantasy and pop culture expo was held in Sydney over the past weekend drawing fans from across Australia and New Zealand.
The three-day event celebrates everything ‘geek-tastic’ and draws together the devotees of science-fiction, pulp TV/movies, toys, console gaming, trading cards, fantasy, books, animation/cartoons, comic books, entertainment technology, internet sites and fan-clubs.
Notable guests appearing at the event included actors Alfie Allen, Christopher Lloyd, Eric Roberts and Tricia Helfer, along with authors Matthew Reilly and Christopher Paolini.
Commercial traders at Supanova included King’s Comics, Popculcha and on-line Lego retailer; I’m Rick James Bricks.
The stallholders reported roaring sales of collectables – both limited edition and mass-market – memorabilia, dress-up costumes – both commercially produced and custom-made – replica props and ephemera.
