Etch-a-Sketch gets a boost
The perennial childhood classic Etch-a-Sketch has been adopted as a symbol for second chances thanks to an offhand remark from Eric Fehrnstrom, a senior adviser to US presidential hopeful Mitt Romney last week.
CNN reported Fehrnstrom as predicting a fresh start for Romney’s campaign after victory in the Illinois primary.
“Everything changes, it’s almost like an Etch-a-Sketch. You can kind of shake it up and restart all over again,” he said
The CNN report has fuelled something of a windfall for Etch-a-Sketch manufacturer Ohio Art Company with a rise in its stock value, while retailers have reported strong sales of the classic toy.
