eBay has been named as Toys R Us' marketplace partner in the Australian market in what is the most recent development in Toys R Us' (TRU) return Down Under. 

After signing a licensing deal with Hobby Warehouse to bring the toy retailer back to Australian shores, TRU has launched its official eBay store today, stocked with more than 4000 items from well-known brands including Lego, Mattel, Hasbro and Spin Master. 

The move forms part of TRU's omni-channel strategy and the retailer will benefit from exposure to eBay Australia's 11 million unique monthly visitors. 

The launch adds to eBay's portfolio of retailers - including the recently launched Coles and Bunnings - which counts more than 40,000 Australian retailers on the site. The launch of TRU on the marketplace builds on an eight year partnership between Hobby Warehouse and eBay. 

Senior director B2C, Advertising and Commercial Partnerships at eBay, Kristian Haigh said that the partnership is a logical step for the eBay business. 

"Toys R Us is an icon known and loved by Aussies of all ages, so we’re thrilled to welcome the retailer to eBay as it builds its online offering.

"As Australia’s number one online shopping destination, this partnership is a natural evolution and we’re proud to help Australian retailers by making it easier for shoppers to access their favourite brands, wherever and however they choose to shop." 

The partnership was announced on 01 July.
