WowWee, the manufacturer of Fingerlings, the 2017 hit toy, has launched a global anti-counterfeiting program, the first victory of which has been the granting of a temporary restraining order against 165 sellers of counterfeit Fingerlings.
Under the terms of the order granted by Judge Robert W Sweet, United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, the vendors' assets and storefronts are to be frozen.
WowWee and its legal team, Epstein Drangel, have designed and implemented a global anti-counterfeiting program through which the company is enforcing its rights to the Fingerlings brand, characters, packaging, and technology to the full extent of the law.
As part of these efforts, WowWee has instituted education and training programs around the world, to provide Customs officers with the latest information on the Fingerlings product line and how to identify fakes, as well as an in-depth analysis of health and safety issues associated with counterfeit products.
Named a top toy in the 2017 peak Christmas retail period holiday season, Fingerlings are miniature, interactive robotic pets that curl around a finger and come to life when they're played with, responding to sound, motion, and touch with over 40 animations.
