Qpeas are little dolls who bring big fun
According to Joseph Spagnoletti, Loumet sales and markeing manager, one common theme unites many past toy successes: most great toy lines are based on a story. And the story that accompanies collectable doll range, Qpeas, is two fold.
QPeas is the creation of Andrew Bedford, a veteran of the Australian toy industry with 23 years' ‘on the job’ experience.
Bedford began his career in the industry in 1988, working for among others, Mattel (10 years), Funtastic (five years) and small toy companies. Three years ago he founded his own enterprise, All in Fun and has launched QPeas as the company's first product.
QPeas mythology begins with a young girl who loses her most favourite, special little doll while playing in the garden. Before drifting off to sleep broken-hearted, the little girl makes a wish to see her special friend again. That night, by magic, a small tree grows covered in little pods. The next morning while searching the garden for her little lost friend, the girl discovers the tree. She picks and opens a pod, delighted to find a new adorable friend inside!
The small character-based dolls are part of a theme, and each comes with their own unique loves, likes and needs. The loves, likes and needs were created with the help of a qualified teacher (who also happens to be Andrew’s eldest daughter), and are designed to help children to connect to each character, thereby facilitating creative and imaginative play.
QPeas stand 5.5cm tall, have five points of articulation, and are extensively and lovingly detailed. They can be posed standing or sitting and their themed head-ware is removable and interchangeable between each character.
The first product release includes Tree of QPeas playset, which also doubles as a night light, as well as a Fantasy Friends playset that includes a removable carriage. The playsets all include special elements such as a saddle for each of the Friends and seating in the carriage.
The QPeas pod is a unique patented invention, it allows each doll to be carried securely either entirely enclosed, or with its head exposed. The pod can be clipped onto backpacks, school bags, and zipper pulls so that children can take their favourite QPea or QPeas with them on their very own adventures.
The range has been extensively focus-group tested, and the feedback from children, parents and carers was nothing short of outstanding.
Children love the characters, Pods and creating their own adventures based on the characters' loves, likes and needs. Parents and carers love the play value and the ongoing positive play outcomes.
All in Fun has readied QPeas for release in multiple international markets to launch in 2018, no mean feat for a self-funded, unknown Australian start-up.
Spagnoletti says he is thrilled to be distributing QPeas in Australia, and that the initial response to the line has been incredible. Visitors to Toy Fair are invited to see the Qpeas on stand K02 at the Fair.
In 2018, Loumet celebrates 55 years as a family-owned Australian company proudly manufacturing in South Australia. Loumet partners with leading international brands to bring the best of the world’s outdoor and indoor play products for children to Australia.
